Top health issues throughout Pakistan Monkeypox alert
The NIH alerts federal and provincial health officials.
Passengers will be monitored at airports and other entrances, according to instructions issued.
Medical personnel are advised to exercise caution when working with monkeypox patients.
In light of the spread of monkeypox cases across Europe, the United States, and the United Kingdom, Pakistan's top health body issued a virus alert on Monday.
According to a National Institute of Health (NIH) notification, federal and provincial health officials have been placed on high alert, and instructions have been issued to monitor passengers at airports and other entrances.
The organisation also stated that all large private and public hospitals have been directed to establish isolation wards. It also advised hospital staff to exercise caution when dealing with monkeypox patients.
According to the notification, there are 92 confirmed cases of the virus in various countries and 28 suspected cases worldwide, and the virus spreads from animal to animal and is now spreading to humans.
According to the NIH, the virus spreads through physical contact with an infected person.
More cases of monkeypox are expected to emerge globally, according to the WHO.
The World Health Organization (WHO) said it expects to find more monkeypox cases as it expands surveillance in countries where the disease is uncommon.
As of Saturday, 92 confirmed cases and 28 suspected cases of monkeypox had been reported from 12 member states that are not endemic to the virus, according to the UN agency, which added that it will provide additional guidance and recommendations for countries on how to mitigate the spread of monkeypox in the coming days.
"At this time, available information suggests that human-to-human transmission is occurring among people in close physical contact with symptomatic cases," the agency added.
